Don't Let Bad Lighting Hide a Great Garage.
Many garages rely on a couple of builder-grade fixtures that leave workspaces, cabinets and entire sections of the garage poorly lit.
Better lighting changes the way the entire room feels.
It makes storage easier to use, improves visibility and helps new flooring and cabinetry look the way they were meant to.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
They can be both.
Quality white LED hexagon systems provide substantial usable light in addition to their distinctive appearance. For example, a smaller 8' × 5.5' HexGlow system is rated at approximately 17,280 lumens, while larger systems can produce more than 60,000 lumens depending on their configuration.
That makes hexagon lighting useful for general garage illumination, detailing, workshops, home gyms and finished automotive spaces—not just as an accent feature.
-
Brightness depends on the size of the grid and number of LED tubes.
As an example, HexGlow rates its standard tubes at approximately 720 lumens each and its larger tubes at approximately 960 lumens each. A complete lighting layout can therefore produce tens of thousands of lumens depending on the system selected.
We size the lighting around the garage rather than simply installing the largest kit available.
-
For most finished garages, 5000K neutral/daylight white is a popular choice because it produces a clean, bright appearance without being as cool or blue as a 6500K light.
Systems like HexGlow are available in 3000K warm white, 5000K neutral white and 6500K daylight, allowing the lighting to be selected around the look and function of the garage.
A warmer 3000K can feel more residential, while 5000K–6500K tends to create the crisp appearance commonly associated with workshops, detailing bays and high-end automotive garages.
-
Power consumption depends on the size of the system.
For reference, HexGlow's 8' × 5.5' five-hex system is rated at 144 watts, while its much larger 16' × 8' dimmable 15-hex system is rated at 552 watts.
Because these are LED systems, they can produce significant light output without relying on traditional high-wattage fluorescent or incandescent fixtures.
-
Not every installation necessarily requires a new dedicated circuit, but the electrical load needs to be evaluated before installation.
Different grid sizes require different amounts of power, and larger systems may require multiple power feeds distributed throughout the grid. HexGlow, for example, specifies limits on the number of LED tubes supplied by each power cable and recommends confirming that the electrical setup is adequate before installation.
For larger designs, we plan the lighting layout with the available electrical capacity in mind.
-
Professional garage lighting systems can often be hardwired into the garage electrical system.
HexGlow kits, for example, are designed to be wired to an electrical circuit and can use multiple power-feed locations depending on the size of the lighting grid.
A hardwired installation also gives the finished garage a cleaner appearance without visible extension cords or unnecessary wiring.
